Minyak kayu manis cinnamon oil dan minyak cengkeh clove oil biasanya dihasilkan dari penyulingan secara konvensional dan tentunya memerlukan waktu yang cukup lama. Salah satu metode terbaru yang bisa digunakan adalah ekstraksi dengan microwave. Kelebihan gelombang mikro adalah kemampuannya untuk memberikan energi langsung ke semua bahan sehingga bisa menghemat waktu dibandingkan metode ekstraksi konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh waktu ratio berat bahan dan pelarut daya microwave dan jenis metode terhadap rendemen minyak atsiri yang diperoleh. Pelarut yang digunakan adalah air karena bersifat polar sehingga sangat baik dalam menyerap gelombang mikro. Variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah kayu manis dan kayu cengkeh berat bahan baik kayu manis maupun kayu cengkeh yaitu 50 75100 125 150 gram daya microwave yang digunakan adalah 264400600 Watt dengan volume pelarut sebesar 400 450 500 ml. Kondisi operasi pada kedua metode ekstraksi pada kedua jenis bahan kayu adalah pada tekanan atmosferik. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa penggunaan metode microwave mampu meningkatkan perolehan rendemen minyak atsiri dan mempercepat waktu ekstraksi. Metode microwave hanya membutuhkan waktu 60-180 menit dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional untuk jumlah rendemen yang sama. Minyak kayu manis yang diperoleh dari ekstraksi dengan microwave memiliki rendemen 0344 - 090 lebih tinggi daripada ekstraksi kovensional yang nilai rendemennya 020 - 040 . Minyak cengkeh yang diperoleh dari ekstraksi menggunakan microwave memiliki rendemen sebesar 253 - 409 lebih tinggi daripada metode konvensional dengan rendemen sebesar 169 - 208 . Pengaruh rasio berat bahan massavolume terhadap rendemen memiliki kondisi yang optimum pada ekstraksi dengan microwave. Perolehan rendemen minyak kayu manis yang terbaik adalah 090 pada ratio berat bahan 125 gram per 450 ml atau 136 wv. Perolehan rendemen minyak cengkeh terbesar adalah 409 pada ratio 150 gram per 500 ml atau 1 667 wv.


Cinnamon oil and clove oil are usually obtained from conventional refining and certainly require a long time of extraction. One of the newest methods that can be used for extraction is microwave. The advantage of microwave is its ability to provide energy all material directly hence it can reduce time compared to conventional extraction methods. This research aims to study the time influance weight material and solvent ratio microwave power and the type of methods to the essential oil yield obtained. Water is used as a solvent since it is polar so it is very facorable to absorb microwaves. variables of research are cinnamon and cloves cinnamon weight of both wood and cloves are 50 75.100 125 150 grams the microwave power used was 264400600 W. While the volume of solvent at 400 450 500 ml. Operating conditions in both extraction methods on two types of wood is at atmospheric pressure. the result of research showed that the use of the microwave method is able to improve the yield and reduce the time of essential oil extraction. the microwave method only takes 60-180 menit compared with the conventional method to obtained the same amount of yield. Cinnamon oil obtained from extraction with microwave has a yield 0.344 - 0.90 higher than the conventional extraction that has yield 0.20 - 0.40. the extraction of essential oil from clove woods obtained the yield on the microwave method has obtained 2.53 - 4.09 compare to the conventional method has obtained yield only 1.69 - 2.08. Effect of weight ratio massvolume to yield have optimum conditions of extraction with microwave.The highest yield was obtained for the extraction of cinnamon 0.90 on the weight 125 grams with a volume 450 ml solvent and 600 watts of power. For essential oil from twig cloves highest yield was obtained at 4 on the weight 150 grams with a volume 500 ml and 600 Watt power.
