PURIFICATION OF WASTE VEGETABLE OIL WVO FASTFOOD RESTAURANT USING BAGASSE AS ADSORBENT

ABSTRAK

Minyak goreng memiliki nilai ekonomi yang cukup tinggi. Minyak goreng pada umumnya digunakan untuk memasak. Harga minyak goreng yang semakin tinggi membuat sejumlah kalangan masyarakat untuk berpikir kreatif mendaur ulang minyak goreng bekas pakai. Melalui penelitian diketahui bahwa ampas tebu memiliki daya adsorpsi yang kuat terhadap kadar air kandungan asam lemak bebas serta angka penyabunan yang terdapat pada minyak bekas pakai. Proses pemurnian minyak jelantah menggunakan ampas tebu sebagai adsorben yaitu menyiapkan ampas tebu yang diperoleh dari sisa-sisa penggilingan sari tebu. Ampas tebu dibersihkan dari kotoran-kotoran yang melekat lalu dikeringkan dibawah terik matahari sampai kandungan air mencapai 5. Selanjutnya ampas tebu yang telah kering dihancurkan hingga menjadi bubuk ampas tebu. Bubuk ampas tebu tersebut diayak dengan berbagai variasi ukuran diameter partikel 80 100 dan 120 mesh. Siapkan minyak goreng yang telah dipakai beberapa kali jelantah dan juga minyak goreng yang bagus baru. Analisis terlebih dahulu kandungan pada minyak jelantah dan minyak yang baru. Siapkan sebanyak 100 ml minyak jelantah dalam 3 erlenmeyer. Kemudian masukkan bubuk ampas tebu 10gr dengan ukuran 80 100 120 mesh kedalam masing-masing erlenmeyer. Rendam minyak dan ampas tebu tersebut selama 1x24jam 2x24jam dan 3x24jam lalu disaring. Setelah didapatkan minyak goreng hasil pemurnian dilakukan analisa yang meliputi penentuan kadar air dalam minyak penentuan asam lemak bebas FFA dan penentuan angka penyabunan. Proses pemucatan minyak terdiri dari tanah pemucat bleaching earth arang pemucat bleaching carbon dan serat. Ampas tebu merupakan serat yang dapat digunakan sebagai adsorben untuk mengikat pengotor pada minyak. Kadar air dalam minyak dapat diturunkan hingga 0023 kadar FFA minyak bekas pakai dapat diturunkan hingga 018156 dan angka penyabunan dapat mencapai angka terendah 168.3. Sehingga minyak ini masih dapat digunakan kembali untuk berbagai keperluan. Lama perendaman mempengaruhi hasil penjernihan minyak yang diharapkan. Dari hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa waktu yang optimal pada analisa kadar air dan angka penyabunan adalah 3x24 jam. Namun pada kadar FFA waktu yang optimal pada 2x24 jam. Semakin kecil diameter partikel adsorben ampas tebu pada penelitian ini yaitu 120 mesh maka penyerapan zat pengotor berlangsung semakin optimal.


ABSTRACT

Cooking oil have economic value sufficiently high.Cooking oil in general used to cooking.Cooking oil price which presently make some experts people to creative thinking recycle cooking oil former wearing.Through research known that the dregs of cane juice has a strong adsorption against the water level content free fatty acids and figures lathering contained in oil former Wetar The process of purifying waste vegetable oil used as an adsorbent dregs of cane juice is preparing dregs of cane juice obtained from remnants penggilingan cane juice.Dregs of cane cleanable dirt attached then dried under sweltering suns water content to reach 5 .After that dregs of cane juice that has been dried and crushed to powder dregs of cane juice.Powder dregs of cane juice is sifted with various variation of measure diameter 80 particles 100 and 120 mesh.Prepare cooking oil had worn several times waste vegetable oil and new cooking oil good . Analysis first content on oil waste vegetable oil and oil are new.Prepare some 100 mls oil jelantah in 3 erlenmeyer.Then enter powder dregs of cane juice 10gr with size 80 100 120 mesh into each erlenmeyer.Soak oil and dregs of cane juice the location for 1x24hours 2x24hours and 3x24hours then filtered.After obtained cooking oil refining the result done analysis which includes the determination of the water level in oil the determination of free fatty acids ffa and determination of figures lathering. The process of bleaching oil consisting of bleaching earth charcoal bleach carbon bleaching and fiber.Dregs of cane juice is fibers that can be used as an adsorbent to bind dirt on oil.The water level in oil can be lowered to 0023 ffa former levels of oil can be lowered to 018156 and figures lathering can reach the lowest number 168.3.So oil is still can be reused for various purposes.Long immersion influence the outcome of rarefaction of oil expected. From the results of research suggests that the optimal time on analysis of the water level and figures lathering is 3x24 hours.But on the level of ffa 2x24 the optimal time on the clock.The smaller the diameters of minute particles an adsorbent dregs of cane juice in research is 120 mesh then the absorption of a substance pengotor lasting more optimal.
