DEVELOPMENT OF DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION ALGORITHM FOR UNEQUAL AREA FACILITY LAYOUT PROBLEM

ABSTRAK

Tata letak fasilitas merupakan permasalahan penempatan fasilitas pada suatu area atau lantai produksi dengan maksud untuk menopang kegiatan produksi secara efektif dan efisien. Dalam dunia nyata fasilitas-fasilitas yang akan disusun mempunyai dimensi yang berbeda-beda unequal area dan setiap fasilitas tidak boleh disusun tumpang-tindih overlap dengan fasilitas yang lain. Penyelesaian permasalahan ini dengan menggunakan algoritma eksak hanya mampu untuk 11 fasilitas saja dan akan menjadi rumit ketika fasilitas yang akan disusun semakin banyak. Untuk itu diperlukan metode pencarian yang efektif untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode metaheuristik khususnya algoritma Differential Evolution DE yang dipadukan Flexible Bay Structure FBS dengan fungsi tujuan meminimasi total biaya perpindahan material. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa solusi yang dihasilkan algoritma DE kurang kompetitif karena hanya menghasilkan 5 solusi optimal dari 11 dataset. Untuk itu memperbaiki kekurangan tersebut Algoritma DE digabungkan dengan teknik Local Search DE-LS dan Particle Swarm Optimization DEPSO. Algoritma DE-LS memberikan hasil yang tidak jauh berbeda dengan yang dihasilkan oleh DE asli. Sedangkan algoritma DEPSO mampu memberikan solusi yang lebih bagus dari algoritma DE dibuktikan dengan algoritma ini mampu memberikan solusi optimal pada 6 dataset dari 8 dataset yang digunakan untuk pengujian.


ABSTRACT

Facility layout problem is a problem to place facilities in an area or a production floor in order to support production activity effective and efficient. In the real world the facilities arranged have different dimensions unequal area and each facility should be composed without overlapping each others. A solution of Unequal Area Facility Problem using exact algorithm can only solve no more than 11 facilities and this problem will become complicated when the number of facility is increased. Inappropriate it is needed to have an effective searching method for solving these problems. This research will try to solve the unequal area facility layout problem by using differential evolution algorithm which is combined Flexible Bay Structure to minimize total material handling cost. The results of this research indicate that the solution of DE algorithm is not good enough because it only can generate the optimal solution 5 of 11 datasets . To improve solution of these problems DE algorithm is combined with a Local Search technique DE - LS and Particle Swarm Optimization DEPSO . DE - LS algorithm gives results that are not much different from original DE. While the DEPSO algorithm is able to provide solutions better than the ones of DE algorithm provide optimal solutions in 6 of the 8 datasets used in testing.
