STUDY OF VELOCITY AND BED CHANGES ON RIVER FLOW WITH CASE STUDY IN DOWNSTREAM OF KALI PORONG ESTUARY

ABSTRAK

Sungai Brantas merupakan salah satu sungai di Pulau Jawa dengan panjang 320 km dan luas catchment 12000 km2. Di bagian hilir Sungai Brantas tepatnya di DAM Mlirip Kabupaten Mojokerto Sungai Brantas terpecah menjadi dua cabang yaitu Kali Surabaya dan Kali Porong. Kali Surabaya berfungsi sebagai sumber penyedia air industri dan air minum kota Surabaya sedangkan Kali Porong berfungsi sebagai saluran pengelak banjir. Debit yang mengalir ke Kali Surabaya dan Kali Porong diatur oleh DAM Lengkong Baru. Kali Porong yang mengalirkan sebagian debit dari Sungai Brantas membawa angkutan sediment yang akan berpengaruh terhadap proses sedimentasi terutama di daerah muara dan mengakibatkan terhambatnya aliran sungai. Untuk itu diperlukan suatu penelitian tentang pemodelan pola kecepatan aliran sungai dan perubahan dasar sungai di Muara Kali Porong yang dapat digunakan untuk memprediksi pola aliran dan perubahan dasar sungai di Muara Kali Porong. Pemodelan pada penelitian ini menggunakan program bantu SMS Surface water Modeling System. Pemodelan dilakukan secara bertahap dengan menyelesaikan pemodelan aliran terlebih dahulu setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan pemodelan angkutan sedimen dengan pendekatan dasar tetap fixed bed. Pemodelan dibangun dengan menggunakan data-data primer hasil pengukuran di lapangan sedangkan untuk simulasi model digunakan data-data sekunder dengan waktu simulasi selama satu tahun. Untuk memaksimalkan pola aliran dan perubahan dasar sungai model yang sudah ada maka model dimodifikasi dengan menggunakan krib-krib. Model krib yang akan disimulasikan ada beberapa model dengan cara merubah posisi dan panjang masing-masing krib. Modifikasi model dengan menggunakan krib ini bertujuan untuk mengubah posisi arus sungai sehingga arus utama akan bergeser dan diharapkan akan meningkatkan kecepatan aliran pada sungai


ABSTRACT

Brantas River is one of the streams in Java with a length of 320 km and a catchment area 12 000 km2. In the lower reaches of the Brantas River precisely in the District Mlirip Dam of Mojokerto Brantas River is split into two branches namely Kali Surabaya and Kali Porong. Kali Surabaya serves as a source provider of industrial water and drinking water of Surabaya whereas Porong River serves as a deterrent flood channel. Discharge of water that flows into the Kali Porong and Kali Surabaya is regulated by the DAM Lengkong Baru. Kali Porong that drains some of discharge from the Brantas River carries sediment that will give effect on the sedimentation process especially in estuarine areas and results in obstructed flow of the river. It is necessary to do a study on modeling the velocity pattern of the river flow and the basic changes in the estuary of the river in Kali Porong that can be used to predict flow patterns and changes in the estuary of Kali Porong. The modelling in this study uses SMS Surface water Modeling System. The modelling is done in stages by completing the flow modeling then it is continued by modelling sediment transport using fixed base approach fixed bed. The modeling is constructed by using primary data from the field measurement results while the simulation model is constructed by secondary data with the simulation time for one year. To maximize the flow pattern and current riverbed change model the model is modified by using the crib-crib. There are several crib models simulated which are by changing the position and length of each crib. Modification of the model by using the crib aims to change the position of the stream so that the mainstream will shift and is expected to increase the flow velocity in the river.
