ABSTRAK
Kekuatan geser tanah adalah aspek yang sangat berpengaruh dalam bidang
geoteknik. Pengujian Undrained Shear Strength dengan menggunakan alat Uji
Geser Langsung menunjukkan hasil dengan nilai kuat geser yang tinggi. Maka
diperlukan suatu konfirmasi nilai-nilai kuat geser yang mendekati kenyataan
dalam pengujian tanah lanau tidak jenuh. Dalam penelitian ini akan dilakukan pengujian tanah lanau dengan alat Uji Geser Langsung dan Uji Triaksial Uncosolidated Undrained. Tanah lanau yang digunakan diambil di desa Manting Mojokerto. Variasi kadar air akan diberikan sebelum percobaan dilakukan untuk mendapatkan nilai parameter mekanik dengan kadar air yang berbeda. Proses pembasahan dilakukan untuk kondisi kadar air lebih besar dari kadar air awal dan proses pengeringan untuk kadar air dibawah kadar air awal. Hasil pengujian
dengan Uji Geser langsung memberikan nilai kekuatan geser yang lebih besar
dibanding dengan pengujian dengan Uji Triaksial UU dengan kisaran perbedaan
antara 115 hingga 339. Maka dari itu mungkin perlu dipertimbangkan kembali
penggunaan alat Uji Geser Langsung untuk pengujian tanah lanau atau dominan
lanau unsaturated.
ABSTRACT
Shear strength of the soil is a very influential aspect in geotechnical.
Undrained Shear Strength Testing by using Direct Shear Test show results with high shear strength. Therefore need a confirmation shear strength values are close to reality in unsaturated test of silty soil. In this research will be done Direct Shear Test and Unconsolidated Undrained Triaxial Test to silt soil. Silt soil used was taken in Manting village Mojokerto. Variation of water content will be given prior to the experiment carried out to obtain the mechanical parameter values with different water content. Wetting process is done to water content is greater than the initial moisture content and drying to moisture content below the initial water
content. Results of Direct Shear Test provide shear strength values greater than UU Triaxial Test with the range of difference between 115 to 339. Thus it
may need to be reconsidered use of Direct Shear Test for soil testing of
unsaturated silt or silty soil.
