ABSTRAK

Kegiatan pencucian kendaraan bermotor menghasilkan limbah cair mengandung minyak pelumas yang dapat menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan. terutama menghambat suplai oksigen ke dalam tanah meracuni mikroorganisme tanah serta dapat mencemari perairan sampai ke lapisan aquifer air tanah. Salah satu cara mengolah limbah yang mengandung minyak pelumas adalah dengan pemisahan menggunakan gravity separator yang memanfaatkan plate settler. Penelitian ini lalu dilaksanakan untuk menentukan efisiensi pemisahan minyak pelumas pada oil separator dengan plate settler. Variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian yakni konsentrasi campuran minyak pelumas sebesar 90 mgL 120 mgL dan 150 mgL serta sudut kemiringan plate settler sebesar 30 45 dan 60. Pengujian konsentrasi minyak pelumas dalam air sampel menggunakan metode ekstraksi soxhlet. Data efisiensi dibandingkan untuk menentukan efisiensi optimum dengan pendekatan analisis secara deskriptif. Sudut 60 merupakan sudut yang paling optimum dalam proses pemisahan minyak pelumas untuk keseluruhan konsentrasi minyak pelumas yang ditentukan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian efisiensi optimum yaitu 8493 didapatkan pada konsentrasi minyak pelumas dalam influent 150 mgL dan sudut kemiringan 60


ABSTRACT

Vehicle wash activities generate wastewater containing lubricating oil that enables to cause some problems to the environment mainly inhibits oxygen supply into the soil toxicates soil microorganisms and pollutes the groundwater aquifer. One alternative to treat wastewater containing lubricating oils is by using a gravity separator which utilizes plate settler. The experiment was conducted to determine the efficiency of lubricating oil separation in the oil separator by using plate settler. Variables used in the study were the concentrations of lubricating oil 90 mgL 120 mgL and 150 mgL and plate settler angles 30 45 and 60. The soxhlet extraction method was used to determine the concentration of lubricating oil in wastewater. Oil separation efficiency data were compared to determine the optimum efficiency by descriptive analysis approach. The 60 angle was the most optimum angle in oil separation for the whole lubricating oil concentration set up. Based on the results the highest efficiency i.e. 84.93 was obtained by the lubricating oil concentration of 150 mgL and the plate angle of 60.
