ABSTRAK

Salah satu sumber energi alternative untuk pembangkit listrik yang tersedia di Indonesia adalah ombak.Pengkonversian energi ombak agar dapat berubah menjadi energi listrik adalah dengan menggunakan pembangkit listrik tenaga gelombang laut PLTGL dengan tipe oscillating water column OWC.OWC adalah pembangkit listrik yang memanfaatkan tekanan udara dalam komlom yang dihasilkan oleh gerakan ombak untuk memutar turbin yang disambungkan ke generator. Pada studi ini akan silakukan perencanaan penempatan PLTGL di daerah pantaiselatan jawa tepatnya di daerah Bandealit jember dan menghitung daya yang dapat dihasilkan oleh PLTGL tersebut.Perhitungan dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain OWC yang sudah ada dengan 3 kolom dengan variasi lebar tiap kolom. Variasi lebar kolom yang digunakan adalah 2m 3m dan 4m. Dari hasil perhitunganyang dilakukan terhadap ketiga dimensi OWC tersebut didapatkan daya yang terbesar yakni pada lebar kolom 4m.dari hasil perhitungan diketahui bahwa untuk satu unit OWC yang terdiri dari 3 buah kolom dengan ukuran tiap kolom 4 meter dapat menghasilkan daya rata-rata hingga 48kilowatt. Sehingga untuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik daerah Bandealit yang sebesar 23850 watt 53 rumah x 450 watt maka dibutuhkanpaling tidak 6 unit PLTGL untuk memenuhi kebutuhan listrik didaerah tersebut.


ABSTRACT

One of the alternative energy source for power plant inbig supply in indonesia is wave. Convertion of wave power energy so thatcan be converedt to electricity poweris using wave energy powerplant based on oscillating water column OWCtype.OWC is one kind of wave powerplant that utilize power of air pressure that generated by waves motion to rotate the turbine that connected to electric generator. In this study the wave powerplant will be planted at Bandealit beach Jember and it will be calculate the power that can be generated by the powerplant. The calculation will be performed on an existing design with three column with variation of each column width. Variation that used are 2m3m and 4m width for each column. From the calculation result of three variation of column width its obtained that the biggest power was generated by OWC with each column width is 4m. From the calculation results its obtained that OWC with 4m width for each column can generate 48 kilowatt evenly in 2011. In that case to handle electricity requirement of the location that 23850watt 53 house x 450 watts each then it takes at least 6 units of wave power plant to replenish the electricity requirement of the location
