ABSTRAK

Bangunan lepas pantai umumnya dirancang untuk dapat beroperasi selama 20 tahun. Akan tetapi tidak menjadi jaminan bahwa sebelum umur operasi selesai konstruksi tidak mengalami penurunan kekuatan. Oleh sebab itu dibutuhkan metode perbaikan seperti pengelasan langsung di bawah air yang biasa disebut dengan istilah underwater welding. Salah satu faktor penting pada proses pengelasan adalah elektroda. Penggunaan elektroda yang berbeda akan menghasilkan komposisi kimia dan sifat mekanik yang berbeda pula. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan tiga jenis elektroda yang berbeda yaitu E6013 E6019 dan E7018. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memberikan informasi elektroda manakah yang menghasilkan sifat-sifat mekanik yang memenuhi atau paling sesuai digunakan untuk pengelasan bawah air pada material ASTM A36. Sehingga didapatkan hasil bahwa pengelasan bawah air dengan elektroda jenis E6013 paling sesuai jika dibandingkan dengan elektroda jenis E6019 dan E7018 karena seluruh pengujian yang dilakukan memenuhi kriteria standar yang digunakan . Dari hasil pengujian tarik didapatkan nilai rata-rata tegangan ultimate sebesar 482.167 MPa dan tegangan yield sebesar 355.833 MPa. Hasil pengukuran elongation didapatkan nilai rata-rata sebesar 24.96. Hasil uji tekuk untuk face bend dan root bend keduanya memenuhi kriteria menurut AWS D1.1. Dan hasil pengamatan struktur mikro pada daerah weld metal memiliki struktur perlit lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan daerah HAZ dan base metal. Untuk daerah HAZ dan base metal didominasi oleh struktur ferrit dan juga terdapat sedikit struktur perlit.


ABSTRACT

Offshore structures are generally designed to be operational for 20 years. But it is not a guarantee that before operation lifespan is completed the construction suffered no loss of strength. Therefore the required method of reparation such as direct welding under water commonly referred to with the term underwater welding. One of the important factors in the process of welding is an electrode. The use of different electrode will produce a different chemical composition and mechanical properties. This research uses three different electrode types i.e. E6013 E6019 and E7018. The purpose of the study is to provide information which of the following electrodes produce mechanical properties which fulfils or the most appropriate used for underwater welding on materials ASTM A36. So the results obtained that the underwater welding with electrode type E6013 is the most suitable if compared with the electrode types E7018 and E6019 because all of the testing performed fulfills the criteria standards used. Tensile test results obtained from the average value of the ultimate stress 482.167 MPa and 355.833 MPa of yield stress. Elongation measurement results obtained average value of 24.96. Bending test result for both face bend and root bend fulfill the criteria according to AWS D 1.1. And the results of observations of the microstructure in weld metal have pearlite structure more than the areas of HAZ and base metal. For HAZ and base metal structure dominated by ferrit and also there is little structure of pearlite.
