Penggunaan material aluminium yang semakin luas di dunia industri terutama aluminium paduan yang mempunyai sifat mekanik yang baik memungkinkan teknologi dan teknik pengelasan yang terus berkembang. Dengan pertimbangan bahwa logam pengisi harus sama atau hampir sama dengan logam yang akan dilas maka penggunaan logam pengisi dari logam induk merupakan alternatif untuk menyediakan logam pengisi yang mempunyai kesamaan dengan logam induk. Proses pengelasan GTAW dengan sumber tenaga arus AC penghilangan lapisan oksida akan terjadi ketika elektroda pada kutup positif. Pengelasan aluminium dengan arus AC adalah yang paling banyak digunakan karena mempunyai kelebihan dalam penghilangan lapisan oksida. Pembersihan lapisan oksida pada pengelasan aluminium merupakan faktor essential sebab jika lapisan tersebut tidak dibersihkan akan menyebabkan cacat pengelasan. Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan dari ketiga spesimen didapatkan banyak sekali cacat terutama dari pengujian radiografi. Cacat porositi merupakan cacat yang paling dominan. Dari pengujian tarik didapatkan bahwa pengelasan aluminium 5083 dengan menggunakan logam pengisi dari E 5356 mempunyai kekuatan tarik individual yang paling besar yaitu 266.62 MPa. Sedangkan pengelasan aluminium 5083 dengan menggunakan logam pengisi dari aluminium 5083 mempunyai kekuatan tarik individual sebesar 243.95 MPa. Kekuatan tarik paling rendah diperoleh dari pengelasan aluminium 5083 dengan logam pengisi dari aluminium seri 6 yaitu mempunyai kekuatan tarik individual sebesar 214.36 MPa. Hasil ini belum bisa digunakan sebagai acuan karena masih banyak kekurangan terutama cacat yang sangat mempengaruhi kekuatan material. Cacat tersebut sangat mempengaruhi kekuatan material sehingga hasil yang didapatkan belum mempunyai standar.


The use of aluminum materials are increasingly widespread in the industrialized world especially aluminum alloys having good mechanical properties enabling technology and welding technique that continues to grow. Considering that the filler metal should be equal or nearly equal to the metal to be welded then the use of filler metal from a metal stem is an alternative to provide a filler metal that has similarities with the parent metal. GTAW welding process with an AC power source current the removal of the oxide layer will occur when the electrode at the positive pole. Aluminum welding with AC current is the most widely used because it has advantages in the removal of the oxide layer. Cleaning of welding aluminum oxide layer is essential factor because if the coating is not cleaned will cause welding defects. From the results of testing done of the three specimens obtained a lot of defects especially of radiographic testing. Porosity disability is the most dominant defect. From the tensile test it was found that the welding of aluminum 5083 using filler metal of the E 5356 has a tensile strength of the greatest individual is 266.62 MPa. While the 5083 aluminum welding using filler metal of aluminum 5083 has a tensile strength of 243.95 MPa individual. Lowest tensile strength obtained from 5083 aluminum welding with filler metal of the aluminum series 6 which has a tensile strength of 214.36 MPa individual. These results can not be used as a reference because there are still many shortcomings especially defects that greatly affect the strength of the material. These defects greatly affect the strength of the material so that the results obtained have not been standardized.
