THE EFFECT OF THE VARIATION OF GRANULE DIAMETER AND SPREAD LEVEL VALUE OF GRANULE GRADATION IN RIVERBED MATERIAL TOWARD THE MOLDING PROCESS AND THE CHARASTERISTIC OF THE ARMOURING LAYER FORMED THAT CAUSED BY SELECTIVE EROSION

ABSTRAK

Adanya ketidakseragaman ukuran butiran material dasar sungai menyebabkan terjadinya proses selective erosion selama terjadinya aliran, yang memungkinkan terbentuknya lapisan armouring sebagai lapisan pelindung dasar sungai. Pembentukan lapisan armouring secara alamiah pada dasar sungai dapat mempertahankan bentuk konfigurasi dasar sungai tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental untuk mengkaji sejauh mana pengaruh variasi komposisi material dasar saluran khususnya variasi ukuran butiran rerata d50 dan variasi tingkat penyebaran gradasi butiran ag terhadap proses pembentukan dan karakteristik lapisan armouring yang terjadi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan material dasar non kohesif yang diambil dari Sungai Brantas Tengah di daerah Kediri, Jawa Timur yang mempunyai diameter rerata d50 = 0,556 mm. Nilai diameter rerata d50 material dasar campuran buatan menggunakan lima macam variasi yang berkisar antara 0,4 mm s/d 0,8 mm. Nilai penyebaran gradasi butiran ag menggunakan enam macam variasi dengan nilai berkisar antara 3,494 s/d 8,760. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan ukuran butiran rerata d50 pada material asli akan mempercepat proses pembentukan lapisan armouring sekaligus meningkatkan stabilitasnya. Tapi pengaruh peningkatan nilai penyebaran gradasi butiran ag material asli tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang konsisten, baik terhadap proses pembentukan lapisan armouring maupun stabilitas lapisan armouring yang terjadi. Pengembangan model prediksi menggunakan metode regresi menghasilkan persamaan terbaik untuk memprediksi nilai geometrik mean diameter dga dan nilai standar deviasi geometrik cga material armouring berturut-turut menggunakan persamaan (rumus silahkan lihat di file PDF) dengan nilai koefisien korelasi Rm = 0,4395 nilai kesalahan standar Em = 0,5041 dan persamaan (rumus silahkan lihat di file PDF) dengan nilai koefisien korelasi R = 0,8344.


ABSTRACT

The non-uniformity on the measure of riverbed material granules causes the occurring of selective erosion process along the stream flow which makes it possible for the molding of armouring layer as riverbed shelter layer. The naturally molding process of armouring layer on the riverbed can sustain the form of riverbed configuration. The research is an experimental study in examining how far the effect of the composition variation of the canal bed material is, especially the variation of the average of granule diameter d50 and the variation of spread level value of granule gradation crg toward the molding process and the characteristic of the armouring layer formed. The research is done by using non-cohesive riverbed material taken from the central section of Brantas River in Kediri, East Java, with the average of granule diameter d50 — 0,556 mm. The average of granule diameter d50 of artificial bed material mixture which used in this research, uses 5 kinds of variation ranges from 0,4 mm to 0,8 mm. The granule gradation spread level σg uses 6 kinds of variation with range values between 3,494 to 8,760. The result of the research shows that the increase of the average granule diameter d50 on the original bed material will speed up the molding process of the armouring layer all at once with the increase of its stability. But the increase of granule gradation spread level crg of original bed material show the inconsistency effect toward both the molding process of armouring layer and its stability. The development of prediction model uses regression method produce the best equation to predict the value of geometrical mean diameter dga and the value of geometrical deviation standard σg of armouring layer material, in succession uses equation (formula’s please look at to file PDF) with the correlation coefficient value Rm = 0,4395 the standard error value E^ = 0,5041 and equation (formula’s please look at to file PDF) with the correlation coefficient value R = 0,8344.
