STUDI NUMERIK PENGARUH JARAK SIRIP DAN KECEPATAN UDARA TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PERPINDAHAN PANAS ALIRAN YANG MELEWATI SUSUNAN TUBE STAGGERED BERSIRIP KONTINYU

ABSTRAK

Salah satu usaha untuk meningkatkan perpindahan panas dari Heat Exchanger adalah dengan menanbahkan fin pada susunan tube. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana pengaruh pitch fin dan kecepatan udara terhadap karakteristik perpindahan panas dan aliran pada fin and tube heat exchanger. Penelitian kali ini dilakukan dengan metode komputasi yaitu dengan menggunakan software fluent 6.2. Variasi jarak sirip 1.5 mm 3 mm dan 6 mm sedangkan kecepatan udara divariasikan 3 ms 5 ms dan 7 ms untuk masing- masing jarak sirip. Susunan tube yang digunakan adalah bentuk staggered dengan jarak tube arah transversal ST25 mm dan arah longitudinal SL 21.7 mm sedang diameter tube 9.52 mm. Koefisien konveksi terbesar dicapai pada jarak sirip 1.5 mm dengan kecepatan 7 ms yaitu 121.02 Wm2.K. dan terkecil terjadi pada jarak sirip 6 mm dengan kecepatan 3 ms yaitu 71.44 Wm2.K. Efisiensi fin dan efisiensi overall tertinggi dicapai pada jarak sirip 6 mm dengan kecepatan 3 ms masing- masing 85.5 dan 87.8 dan terkecil pada jarak sirip 1.5 mm dengan kecepatan 7 ms yaitu masing- masing 76.7 dan 77.5 . Pengaruh Reynolds number ReDc yang semakin besar akan menurunkan faktor J Colburn.


ABSTRACT

One of the efforts to increase the heat transfer of a Heat Exchanger by added fin to the tube arrangement. This research was carried out to investigated effect of fin pitch and air velocity to heat transfer and flow characteristic on the fin and tube heat exchanger. This research was carried out by computational method fluent 6.2 especially. The variations of fin pitch are 1.5 mm 3 mm and 6 mm while the air velocity variations are 3 ms 5 ms and 7 ms for fin pitch respectively. Tube configuration is staggered arrangement with transversal tube pitch ST 25 mm and longitudinal tube pitch SL 21.7 mm and tube diameter is 9.52 mm. The highest convection coefficient is obtained at fin pitch 1.5 mm with air velocity 7 ms at 121.02 Wm2.K in value and smallest at fin pitch 6 mm with air velocity 3 ms at 71.44 Wm2.K in value. The highest fin and overall efficiency is obtained at fin pitch 6 mm with air velocity 3 ms 85.5 and 87.8 respectively and the smallest at fin pitch 1.5 mm with air velocity 7 ms 76.7 and 77.5 respectively. The effect of Reynolds number ReDc to the J Colburn factor is increasing Reynolds number will decrease J Colburn factor.
