Tabung Vortex adalah suatu alat yang dapat dipakai untuk pendinginan atau pemanas. Sumber energinya adalah udara yang bertekanan. Tabung Vortex merubah udara bertekanan menjadi dua aliran udara, yaitu aliran udara panas dan aliran udara dingin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh panjang vortex tube tipe parallel, terhadap unjuk kerjanya dan temperature udara yang dihasilkan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan vortex tube yang berbiameter dalam 8mm, dengan variasi panjang vortex tube 280mm, 420mm, dan 560mm. . Pengukuran dilakukan dengan menggunakan termokopel untuk mengetahui temperatur outletnya. Untuk mempelajari medan aliran digunakan software Fluent yang mencakup : distribusi kecepatan aksial, distribusi tekanan statis dan distribusi temperatur statis. Dari hasil pengukuran data menunjukan bahwa semakin panjang pipa vortex maka temperatur yang dihasilkan semakin naik baik temperature pada output dingin maupun output panas. Dapat disimpulkan vortex tube tipe parallel ini memiliki efisiensi yang lebih rendah dari pada vortex tube tipe counterflow. Oleh karena itu vortex tube tipe parallel ini jarang digunakan.

Vortex tube is a tool that can be used as both cooler and heater. The energy source is air pressure. Vortex tube converts the air pressure into two kind of airflows, hot and cold airflow. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of parallel vortex tube’s length towards the performance and the air pressure produced. This study is conducted using vortex tube with diameter 8 mm, with length variation 280mm, 420mm, and 560mm. The experiment is conducted by utilizing termokopel to find out the temperature outlet. To research the wave length software Fluent that includes: aksial velocity distribution, static pressure distribution, and static temperature distribution. From the data analysis we can learn that the longer the vortex pipe, the higher the temperature produced, whether in the hot output or cold output. We can conclude that, this parallel vortex tube has lower efficiency compared to counterflow vortex tube. Hence this parallel vortex tube is rarely used.
