Description:

Agar starch dapat digunakan untuk tujuan tertentu, salah satunya dalam aplikasi biomedical (drug release obat) maka diperlukan proses modifikasi starch diantaranya dengan proses karboksilasi dan grafting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh daya kelarutan produk kopolimer CMS-g-PAM terhadap air. Dimana sebelumnya dilakukan sintesa karboksimetil amylose starch yang diharapkan memiliki sifat yang lebih hidrofilik. Penggabungan carboxymethyl starch amylose dan polyacrylamide ini dilakukan dengan metode grafting to dan teknik polimerisasi larutan.. Hasil sintesa CMS-g-PAM ini kemudian dikarakterisasi berupa Spektroskopi Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), derajat swelling, serta persentase grafting efisiensi (%GE) dan persentase grafting yield (%GY). Produk CMS-g-PAM yang dihasilkan diharapkan memiliki kemampuan menyerap air yang tinggi dan bersifat biodegradable. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan didapatkan hasil bahwa CMS-g-PAM dengan konsentrasi NaOH 2 M memiliki % GE dan %GY terbesar yaitu 100,7% dan 120, 1%. Sedangkan derajat swelling terbesar terdapat pada CMS-g-PAM dengan konsentrasi NaOH 2,5% .

For specific purposes, one in biomedical applications (drug release), Starch need to be modificated such as by carboxylation and grafting. This research aims to study the solubility effect of amylose carboxymethyl starch graft polyacrylamide (CMS-g-PAM) to water. Carboxymethyl starch produced are expected to have more hydrophilic nature. The combination of these carboxymethyl starch (amylose) and polyacrylamide is done by grafting to method and solution polymerization method. These products is tested its characteristics with FTIR, swelling degree, percentage of grafting efficiency (% GE) and percentage of grafting yield (% GY). This CMS-g-PAM synthesisís result is expected could have a high capability to adsorb water. From the research conducted showed that CMS-g-PAM with concentration of 2 M NaOH has the largest percentage of efficiency grafting (%GE) and yield grafting (%GY) that is 100.7 % and 120.1 %. While the greatest degree of swelling is CMS-g-PAM with concentration of 2.5 M NaOH.
