ABSTRAK

Pekerjaan konstruksi merupakan sebuah permasalahan yang utuh untuk penyediaan tenaga kerja dan penempatannya di industri konstruksi. Perkembangan bidang manajemen konstruksi di Indonesia perlu diimbangi dengan sumberdaya manusia yang baik dalam segi kualitas dan kuantitas. Pada penelitian sebelumnya (Waliulu, 2008) telah didapatkan model kinerja pekerja konstruksi yang obyek penelitiannya adalah tukang pada pekerjaan konstruksi. Bagaimana dengan level di atas mereka seperti para staff (karyawan) tenaga ahli konstruksi? Dengan melihat pembahasan di atas, maka diperlukan sebuah penelitian tentang model prestasi kerja staff perusahaan konstruksi dengan variabel-variabel seperti karakteristik individu, kemampuan individu, motivasi kerja dan kepuasan kerja terhadap prestasi kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik individu, kemampuan individu, motivasi dan kepuasan kerja terhadap prestasi kerja staff perusahaan konstruksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey terhadap 127 staff perusahaan konstruksi di kota Surabaya, kemudian dianalisis dengan Structural Equation Modelling. Hipotesis yang diajukan dalam model penelitian kali ini adalah terdapat pengaruh karakteristik individu baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung melalui variabel kemampuan individu, motivasi kerja dan kepuasan kerja terhadap variabel prestasi kerja. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa karakteristik individu tidak berpengaruh secara langsung terhadap prestasi kerja staff perusahaan konstruksi. Karakteristik individu ini memberikan pengarunhya terhadap prestasi kerja melalui peningkatan kemampuan individu serta pemberian motivasi kerja yang kemudian menuju pada kepuasan kerja staff perusahaan konstruksi.


ABSTRACT

Construction work is a whole and complete problem for the workers provision and their disposition in construction industry. The development of construction management field in Indonesia needs to be compensated with good human resource both in quality and quantity. On the previous research (Waliulu, 2008) has been obtained the model of construction workers performance with the subject of construction workmen. What about with the workers above them, the staff experts (employees)? Seen from above discussion, it is essential to conduct a research on staff’s performance of construction company with variables such as individual characteristics, individual ability, motivation, and satisfaction towards staff’s performance. This research intends to analysize the effects of individual characteristics, individual ability, motivation, and satisfaction towards staff’s performance. This research uses the survey methode on 127 construction company staffs in Surabaya, then analyzed with Structural Equation Modelling. The proposed hypothesis in this research model is there are direct and indirect effects from variables of individual ability, working motivation, working satisfaction towards the variable of working performance. From the result of this analysis, it is known that individual characteristics do not have direct effect towards the performance of construction company staffs. These individual characteristics give the impact to work acheivement through individual ability improvement and working motivation that lead to construction company staffs’ satisfaction.
