Description:

Pengotoran biologis yeng terjadi akibat menempelnya biota laut pada permukaan benda di laut disebut biofouling. Vortex adalah salah satu biofouling makroskopik yang dominan. Salah satu cara untuk meminimalisasi jumlah penempelan biomassa fouling adalah dengan melakukan proses pengecatan pada suatu material. Penelitian tentang pengaruh warna cat pada bahan baja terhadap jumlah penempelan vortex dan biomassa fouling lain di perairan PT. PAL Ujung Surabaya dilakukan pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2007, dengan cara menenggelamkan pelat baja berukuran 15 x 5 x 0,3 cm yang telah dicat dengan 8 macam warna berbeda (hitam, merah, biru, hijau, coklat, kuning, oranye dan putih) selama delapan minggu, kemudian dihitung jumlah penempelan biomassa vortex dalam gr/m2. Biofouling yang ditemukan pada pengecatan spesimen uji adalah Urosalpinx sp. Dari phyllum Mollusca, Ordo Acoela dari phyllum Platyhelminthes, Balanus sp. dari classis Crustacea, dan Phaeophyceae (algae coklat), dengan biomassa yang dominan adalah Balanus sp. (vortex). Hasil analisa pengujian menunjukkan adanya suatu pengaruh warna cata yang cukup besar terhadap penempelan biofouling tersebut. Jumlah penempelan biomassa Balanus sp.(vortex) tertinggi terletak pada spesimen uji berwarna coklat dengan seluruh jumlah penempelan yang terjadi sebesar 3136,13 gr/m2 dan terendah terdapat pada spesimen uji berwarna oranye sebesar 1206,69 gr/m2. Pada hasil analisa jumlah rata-rata penempelan biomassa vortex yang terjadi pada spesimen ui berwarna coklat memiliki jumlah penempelan biomassa tertinggi yaitu sebesar 784,03 gr/m2 dan spesimen warna oranye memiliki jumlah rata-rata penempelan terendah sebesar 301,67 gr/m2. Sehingga dapat dilihat dari hasil analisa diatas bahwa biomassa vortex lebih menyukai suatu substrat yang memiliki warna cenderung gelap (coklat, hitam, merah dan hijau) dari pada substrat yang memiliki warna-warna yang cenderung lebih terang (oranye, kuning, putih dan biru). Hal tersebut dilakukan oleh biofouling untuk menunjang proses daur hidup biofouling dengan cara menempel pada suatu substrat.

The attachment of creature to the surface material in sea water is called biofouling, for example vortex, the dominant one. The vortex barnacle attachment can be minimilized by coating. The effect ofpaint colour to steel materials to the number of vortex attachment and biofouling biomass in coastal Ujung Surabaya had conducted on May until June 2007. The size of steel material is 15 x 15 x 0,3 cm. They mere coated by black, red, blue, green, brown, yellow, oranye, and white and they were immersed on Pertamina jetty area. The number of vortex attachment were analysed in ind/m2 and biofouling biomass in gr/m2. Specimen biofouling had been found were Urosalpinx sp. (Molluscs), Ordo Acoela (Platyhelminthes), Balanus sp. (Crustacean), and Phaeophyceae (Brown algae). The dominant specimen was vortex (Balanus sp.). The statistic analysis showed that there is significant correlation between the effect of pain colour to the number of vortex attachment. The highest number goes to black steel with 49228 ind/m2 and the lowest goes to blue steel with 2114 ind/m2. The statistical analysis showed that there is significant correlation between the effect of paint colour to the befouling biomass. The highest biomass tends to steel that had been coated by brown with 784.03 gr/m2 and the lowest tends to steel that had been coated by oranye with 330.72 gr/m2.
