BIOASSESSMENT OF SURABAYA RIVER WATER QUALITY BASED ON GILLS DEGRADATION LEVEL OF TAWES FISH Puntius javanicus BlKr. AND NILA FISH Oreochromis niloticus WITH KARAMBA SYSTEM

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui tingkat pencemaran kali Surabaya berdasarkan parameter kimia fisika dan biologi. Pengukuran parameter biologi berdasarkan atas tingkat kerusakan ikan uji tawes Puntius javanicus BlKr. dan ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus dan pola melanophora sisik ikan uji. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan cara memelihara ikan uji tawes dan nila dalam karamba di 3 lokasi yaitu di Desa Bambe pertemuan antara kali Surabaya dan kali Tengah Desa Cangkir dan Karangpilang. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengamatan mingguan terhadap parameter pH temperatur DO COD SS dan kecepatan pernafasan ikan uji. Pengamatan mingguan parameter ini untuk menentukan tingkat pencemaran Kali Surabaya berdasarkan Index Prati. Selain itu juga dilakukan pengamatan diurnal untuk parameter pH temperatur DO COD dan SS yang dilakukan selama dua hari dengan interval sampling 2 jam sekali untuk masing-masing parameter. Pengamatan perubahan pola melanophora sisik ikan uji dan struktur mikroanatomi insang branchia ikan uji untuk dilakukan sesudah ikan uji dipelihara selama 1 bulan di dalam karamba. Untuk mengetahui tingkat pencemaran perairan setempat digunakan metode insang Tandjung. Hasil uji statistik pengamatan mingguan terhadap parameter yang diteliti tidak menunjukkan adanya perbedaan nyata di antara ketiga lokasi karamba. Tetapi berdasarkan pengamatan pola grafik maupun perhitungan nilai rata-rata masing-masing parameter terlihat adanya perbedaan fluktuasi yang jelas diantara ketiga lokasi karamba. Fluktuasi pengamatan mingguan terhadap temperatur antara 28 C - 30 C pH antara 69 - 74 DO antara 55 mgl -71 mgL COD antara 4 mg1 - 97 mg1 SS antara 20 mg1 - 400 mgL kecepatan pernafasan ikan tawes antara 161 - 169 per menit dan kecepatan pemafasan ikan nila antara 192 - 201 per menit. Fluktuasi pola diurnal nilai pH antara 69 -81 temperatur antara 28 C - 30 C DO antara 16 mg1 - 76 mg1 COD antara 38 mg1 - 118 mg1 SS antara 60 mg1- 452 mgL Berdasarkan perhitungan Prati ndex diketahui bahwa tingkat pencemaran Kali Surabaya di Desa Bambe menunjukan tercemar lebih berat polluted class IV dibandingkan dengan lokasi karamba di Desa Cangkir dan Karangpilang good class II. Sedangkan hasil penelitian menggunakan metode insang Tandjung menunjukkan kesimpulan yang sama dimana tingkat pencemaran Kali Surabaya di di Desa Bambe mengalami pencemaran lebih berat tercemar agak berat kerusakan struktur insang tingkat 4 dibanding di Desa Cangkir dan Karangpilang tercemar sedang kerusakan struktur insang tingkat 3 .


ABSTRACT

This reseach is aimed to detennine the level of Surabaya river pollution according to physical chemical and biologjcal parameter. The biological measurement was done based on gill degradation of tawes Puntius javanicus BlKr and nila Oreochromis niloticus as well as melanophora pattern of of fish scales. The research was implemented using karamba cell system in 3 location namely Cangkir Bambe and Karangpilang. Dissplved oxygen DO SS COD and fish respiration rate were measured weekly. In addition two hourly measurement of pH DO COD and SS were done in two consecutive days in order to measure the real water quality condition in me observed location. The melanophora pattern of fish scales and gills degradation were determined after one month exposure of the river water using Tandjung method. Statistical analysis on physical chemical parameter weekly observation did not show significant differences among all location. But based on graphics pattern observation and measurement of each everage parameter value show that any fiuctuarion differences each parameter in the observed location. The range of weekly observation of each parameter was temperature 28 C - 30 C pH 69 - 74 DO 55 mg1 - 71 mgL COD 4 mg1 - 97 mgL SS 20 mg1 - 400 mgL respiration rate of tawes 161 - 169 per minutes and respirarion rate of nila 192-201 per minutes. The two hourly of the the following water quality characteristics was pH 69 - 81 temperature 28 C - 30 C DO 16 mg1 - 76 mgL COD 38 mg1 -118mgl SS 60 mg1-452 mg1. Based on Prati Index the pollution level of Surabaya river in Bambe was higher polluted class IV than Cangkir and Karangpilang good class II. Result of gills observation show same conclusion the pollution level in Bambe has higher gills degradation level 4 than in Cangkir and karangpilang Gills degradation level 3.
