STUDI NUMERIK PENGARUH BLOCKAGE RATIO PADA KARAKTERISTIK ALIRAN DAN PERPINDAHAN PANAS DI SEKITAR SILINDER UNTUK KOMBINASI ALIRAN FORCED DAN NATURAL

ABSTRAK

Pengaruh blockage ratio pada karakteristik aliran dan perpindahan panas di sekitar silinder untuk kombinasi aliran forced and natural konveksi diteliti dengan cara studi numerik. Fluida kerjanya adalah air. Blockage ratio dW berkisar antara 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 dan 0.5. Bilangan Reynolds Re dijaga konstan sebesar 150. Modifikasi bilangan Rayleigh Ra. berubah antara 0 sampai 1x107. Pada Ra yang rendah Ra1x106 aliran adalah unsteady pada setiap dW dan Karman vortex menyelimuti belakang silinder secara periodik intensitas aliran yang semakin tinggi dengan naiknya harga dW hal ini mengakibatkan harga bilangan Nusselt yang naik baik lokal maupun rerata. Pada Ra yang tinggi Ra1x106 aliran unsteady menjadi melemah dengan menjadi steady pada setiap harga dW. Pada daerah ini pengaruh dW hanya koefisien perpidahan panas daerah depan silinder. Pada daerah transisi dari aliran unsteady ke steady terjadi penurunan bilangan Nusselt Num yang drastik


ABSTRACT

Numerical studies were conducted to investigate characteristic flow and heat transfer of combined forced and natural convective heat transfer around a heated cylinder on the effect of blockage ratio. The working fluid was water. The Blockage ratio dW was 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 and 0.5. Reynolds number Re was kept of 150. Modified Rayleigh number Ra was change from 0 to 1x107. In low Ra Ra1.0x106 unsteady flow was observed in any dW and Karman vortex shed behind the cylinder periodically. The intensity of flow became stronger with increasing dW consequently Local Nusselt number was higher either mean Nusselt number. For high Ra Ra1.0x106 however the unsteadiness became weaker with increasing Ra. Karman vortex disappeared for sufficiently high Ra and steady flow was establish in any dW. In this region the effect of dW was found in the front portion of the cylinder. In transition region from unsteady to steady Num was suddenly decrease.
