OPTIMIZATION OF RAW MATERIAL INVENTORY WITH MULTI-SUPPLIER CASE STUDY PT. MECO INOXPRIMA

ABSTRAK

Inventory dapat diartikan sebagai material yang dimiliki suatu organisasi dalam suatu waktu tertentu. PT. Meco Inoxprima sebagai produsen storage tank senantiasa menginginkan service level yang tinggi dalam memuaskan keinginan customer. Karena itu segera setelah order diterima dari customer PT. Meco memesan bahan baku dari supplier. Yang menjadi pertimbangan dalam pemilihan supplier adalah sertifikasi material dan harga yang murah. Karena itu pembelian tiap material dilakukan secara terpisah. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan evaluasi biaya inventory plate stainless steel SS 304 yang terdiri dari 22 jenis berdasarkan ketebalan dan ukurannya. Kemudian hasilnya dibandingkan dengan jika holding costnya di-nol-kan. Sementara itu dilakukan pula pengembangan formulasi Basnet dan Leung yaitu disesuaikan dengan kondisi existing perusahaan. Setelah itu hasilnya digunakan untuk menghitung ulang biaya inventory. Hasil perhitungan ketiga cara tersebut kemudian dibandingkan untuk mengetahui metode mana yang lebih baik. Dari hasil penelitian berdasarkan sistem inventory perusahaan inventory cost selama tahun 2005 untuk 22 jenis material yang diamati sebesar Rp 6.690.216.00005. Perhitungan dengan mengnol- kan holding cost menurunkan inventory cost sebesar 095. Sedangkan formulasi Basnet dan Leung menunjukkan adanya kenaikan purchasing cost sebesar 008 serta penurunan ordering cost dan holding cost masing-masing sebesar 3107 dan 9385 sehingga dapat menurunkan total biaya inventory sebesar 104. Dengan demikian terbukti bahwa formulasi Basnet dan Leung ini dapat lebih mengoptimalkan biaya inventory yang dikeluarkan dan dapat digunakan untuk menentukan kebijakan inventory selanjutnya.


ABSTRACT

Inventory can be determined as material which organization had in a period. PT. Meco Inoxprima as producer of storage tank always expect to reach high service level in satisfying customers need. Because of that soon after PT. Meco Inoxprima receive an order from customer he will take an order of raw material to supplier. PT. Meco Inoxprima consider suppliers based on their materials sertification and prices. It make a material purchasing is independent from the other materials. This research evaluates inventory cost of SS 304 stainless steel plate that can be divided based on its thickness and size. Inventory cost is calculated both based on existing condition and with assumming that holding cost is equal to zero. Basnet and Leung formulation is improved to fit the existing condition of the company. Then the new formulation is used to recalculate inventory cost. The result of three methods is compared so that we can decide whether the existing method or improvedBasnet and Leung method is the best method to reach the optimum inventory cost. This research result that inventoy cost in 2005 based on their existing method is Rp 6.690.216.00005. When assumming that holding cost is equal to zero inventory cost decrease 095. And after being recalculated with Basnet and Leung formulation purchasing cost increases for 008 but ordering cost and holding cost decrease for 3107 and 9385. This means Basnet and Leung formulation can decrease inventory cost for 104. It is the reason why this method is chosen as the better method to optimize inventory system.
