ABSTRAK

Suhu Permukaan Laut SPL merupakan parameter oseanografi yang sangat penting dalam kajian-kajian dan pengembangan aplikasi kelautan seperti aplikasi perikanan pemantauan variabilitas iklim dan perubahan lingkungan laut. Kebutuhan data SPL saat ini semakin meningkat dan semakin dituntut tingkat ketelitiannya baik dalam dimensi spasial dan temporal. Peningkatan ketelitian data SPL dapat dilakukan dengan penggabungan data SPL dari berbagai metoda pengukuran baik pengukuran insitu maupun pengukuran penginderaan jauh. Namun dalam proses ini perlu diperhitungkan kenyataan bahwa SPL selain memiliki variasi musiman juga memiliki variasi harian. Oleh karena itu pengetahuan tentang variasi harian SPL di suatu kawasan sangat penting agar supaya penggabungan data SPL dari berbagai pengukuran dan pada waktu yang berbeda dapat dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pola variasi diurnal SPL di perairan Samudera Hindia Barat Sumatera dan mengembangkan model empirik variasi diurnal SPL menggunakan data citra MODIS dan data pengukuran in-situ mooring-buoy RAMA. Model ini berupa persamaan regresi yang mengestimasi besar amplitudo variasi diurnal SPL pada kedalaman 1 meter dari parameter meteorologi kecepatan angin dan radiasi matahari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa amplitudo variasi diurnal dSPL di wilayah penelitian berkisar antara 0.05C dan 1.9C. Variasi diurnal SPL juga menunjukkan adanya Variasi diurnal SPL dengan pola bulanan dan pola musiman. Nilai tertinggi variasi diurnal SPL rata-rata bulanan terjadi di bulan Februari dan nilai terendah terjadi pada bulan September. Sedangkan untuk pola musiman nilai tertinggi variasi diurnal SPL rata-rata musiman terjadi pada periode musim peralihan Maret-April-Mei dan nilai terendah terjadi pada periode September-Oktober-November. Model empirik dSPL dalam penelitian ini berupa persamaan regresi dSPL aPS bLnU cPSLnU d dengan 3 klasifikasi kecepatan angin U 2.5 ms 2.5 ms 8804 U 5 ms dan U 8805 5 ms. Model dSPL untuk setiap klasifikasi kecepatan angin adalah dSPL 0.000422PS 1.383LnU 0.001PSLnU 0.063 untuk U 2.5 ms dSPL 0.003PS 0.657LnU 0.001PSLnU 0.862 untuk 2.5 ms 8804 U 5 ms dan dSPL 0.000011PS 0.223LnU 0.000065PSLnU 0.580 untuk U 8805 5 ms. viii Kinerja model dSPL cukup tinggi dengan nilai Korelasi sebesar 0.81 nilai RMSE sebesar 0.211C.


ABSTRACT

Sea surface temperature SST is an important oceanographic parameter for study and development of marine related applications such as fisheries application and monitoring of climate variability and marine environmental changes. The need of SST data increases as also the demand on their accuracy in terms of both spatial and temporal dimensions. Improvement of SST data accuracy can be achieved by combining SST data from various means of observations both in-situ and remote sensing. In this process however SST variation in seasonal pattern and diurnal pattern has to be considered. Therefore knowledge on diurnal variation of SST in an area is important in order to integrate various data obtained from various observations and time. This study is aimed at obtaining understanding of diurnal variation pattern of SST in the area of Indian Ocean to the west of Sumatera and development of empirical model on SST diurnal variation by using MODIS data and data collected by RAMA in-situ mooring-buoy. This model is represented by a regression formula to estimate SST diurnal variation amplitude from meteorological parameters of wind speed and sun radiation at a depth of 1 metre. The result of this study shows that amplitude of dSST diurnal variation in the studied area ranges between 0.05C and 1.9C. SST diurnal variation also indicates monthly and seasonal pattern. Maximum values of monthly average of SST diurnal variation occurs in February and its minimum values is observed in September. On seasonal pattern however the maximum values of average seasonal SST diurnal variation occur in transition period of March-April-May and its minimum is observed in the period of September-October-November. Empirical model of dSST in this study is represented by regression formula of dSST aPS bLnU cPSLnU d by considering 3 wind speed category of U 2.5 ms 2.5 ms 8804 U 5 ms and U 8805 5 ms. dSST model for each wind speed category is dSST 0.000422PS 1.383LnU 0.001PSLnU 0.063 for U 2.5 ms dSST 0.003PS 0.657LnU 0.001PSLnU 0.862 for 2.5 ms 8804 U 5 ms and dSPL 0.000011PS 0.223LnU 0.000065PSLnU 0.580 for U 8805 5 ms. Performance of the dSST model is quite high with correlation value of 0.81 and RMSE value of 0.211C.
